Startups like ideaForge, Garuda Aerospace, and InsideFPV are leading the charge with indigenous innovations tailored for both civilian and defense markets.

Regional Efforts and Initiatives

India’s ambition to become a global drone hub is being echoed through regional initiatives like the Amaravati Drone Summit 2024. These events not only showcase cutting-edge technology but also promote regional investment and skill development. For instance, Andhra Pradesh's vision includes attracting ₹2,000 crore in investments and generating 30,000 new jobs in the drone sector. Such regional summits bridge the gap between policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators, amplifying the momentum created at the national level.

Challenges to Address

Despite these strides, challenges remain. Delays in implementing the full-fledged Digital Sky platform and obtaining permissions for operations in sensitive areas continue to hinder smooth scaling. Additionally, the industry still lacks a robust framework for drone pilot training and certification. Faster clearance mechanisms for trusted players and enhanced public-private partnerships will be critical to overcoming these hurdles.
